2025ALYH ABOVE (they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist, researcher and archivist constructing artistic research projects that study, express, and reflect on The Human Experience as Creative Process.

Native to West Palm Beach, FL and currently creating out of Philadelphia, PA, their work is expressed through music, writing, production, design, film, archive, theory, philosophy, and creative liberation strategy.

At current, they are developing their worldbuilding studio, here + human, which aims to equip artists and cultural workers to create the world(s) we need next through non-linear experimental offerings. here + human’s projects include the ‘Black Fulfillment Art-chives’, ‘human-ifesto’, and substack series ‘prompts for the modern human’.

They are also crafting existentia. — an interdisciplinary art-journal exploring The Human Experience as Creative Process through spells and stories from the inner world of ALYH ABOVE. The project features both original and found works, collaged into themed, episodic Creative Research Projects, available to stream via the official project website and bandcamp.

©2025 ALYH ABOVE
a sound journal by ALYH ABOVE
created to explore the ephemera of the human experience.

existentia. is a themed, episodic sound journal comprised of ALYH ABOVE’s daily audio journals and the music (original and otherwise) that fills their environment — effectively combining the sounds of their internal and external world — manipulated and repurposed through different forms of audio production, made to illustrate The Human Experience as Existential Conversation.

Each episode is numbered by the amount of days the artist has been alive at the time the episode is conceived/released, honoring queer forms of timekeeping and illustrating how the way we think of anything in our world influences our experience of it.

DAY 10,700 “misogynoir Is a sleep paralysis entity.”
Released Oct. 6th, 2024

DESCRIPTION

Misogyny is a spirit we call “He”.

Day 10,700 explores misogynoir as a child of oppression and an entity which has its own will and stays alive through our conditioning and commitment to it.

This is in attempt to point out the importance of continually telling the complex stories we’ve survived, while contextualizing our experiences within the larger experience of oppression, and re-humanizing ourselves as we move towards liberation.

When “He” is spoken throughout the episode, it is meant to reference the spirit of misogyny itself, though it may also represent a person or archetype.
THREADS + THEMES

✷ the omnipresence of misogynoir

✷ the feigned elusiveness of oppression

✷ oppression as a force that separates us from ourselves

✷ that misogynoir has no one body, but moves through bodies. no matter what we look like, we are capable of channeling oppression.
